Postcard Adopted By God

Today’s Biblical Affirmation: You Were Adopted By God

Celebrating Mother’s Day for some is a dreaded holiday that you wished didn't exist. You avoid the card aisle the month of May, turn off the radio during commercials, and ban TV in your home. The sole purpose of the weeks leading up to this Holiday is to avoid being reminded that you didn't win the lottery in the Mom department.

The cards that describe being unconditionally loved, never abandoned, and nurtured by a mother are unrelatable.

This may not describe exactly how you feel, but none the less Mother’s Day isn't easy for many, and you may be one of them.

I want to encourage you. You were chosen by God. Not only did He create you for such a time as this, He designed every unique thing about you. Nothing was a mistake. Not even who your mother is or was. He promises in His word that He and He alone is enough. Even if, we were mistreated or abandoned by one or both, of our parents we are, adopted children of God.

One of my favorite Bible verses is;

“For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God. For you did not receive the Spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, “Abba! Father!” The Spirit himself bears witness with our Spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, provided we suffer with him in order that we may also be glorified with him. For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us.”

Romans 8:14-19

It brings me great comfort to know that I don't have to stay stuck in the slavery of fear. Fear of being punished, unloved & abandoned, but instead am an heir to God the Father who is not a punishing parent, will love me unconditionally and never leave me or forsake me, brings me an abundant amount of peace. I pray it does you as well, friend.

We have so much to celebrate as children of God. In the grand scheme of things, a man-made Holiday truly does not matter. God sees you and binds up the wounds of the broken-hearted. He came to give us a full and abundant life as His heirs ❤️

Love, Bethannah xoxo
