There are so many things people can point to that shine a light directly on their blessings. Most people would list their kids, their health, their family, their home, etc. All good things to be thankful for; however, what if you were grateful for the hard stuff? The cancer, the job loss, the strained relationship, the broken marriage, the empty bank account?
Sounds counterproductive doesn’t it?
A friend of mine in Bible Study this week gave a lesson through her own experience of grief. While her son had a life threatening heart condition where few babies survived, when she lived below the poverty level, and when she didn’t have an earthly husband, she thanked God for everything in all circumstances. She said doing that changes your perspective to a heavenly perspective.
The Lord says, “in all things, give thanks.”
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
“Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.”
Sometimes, when we are going through challenges in life we can forget that God uses all things for His good.
“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:28
He doesn’t waste one experience. Each thing we go through is for the purpose of our refining, the softening of our hearts, repentance, our ability to grow in empathy, designed to strengthen us, make us more dependent on Him, give us patience, change our course and or, come to know Him on a deeper level. Nothing is wasted; it all will be used for our good.
When we are obedient to God in being thankful for all things, in ALL circumstances “the good and the bad”, He blesses that. When we keep our eyes focused on Him and put our faith in Him during these unpredictable seasons, our heavy load lightens.
So, what are you thankful for this Thanksgiving week that is hard, painful, and challenging? How has God used these hardships to bless you so far? What things are you learning through this?
Write them down in your thankful journal as part of your Biblical Self-Care this month.
This weeks Biblical Affirmation is…
YOU ARE BLESSED!
2 Corinthians 9:11
“Yes, you will be enriched in every way so that you can always be generous. And when we take your gifts to those who need them, they will thank God.”
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you for not leaving my side during difficult seasons. Thank you for not wasting one hardship or painful circumstance for my good. You are a good, good Father. I may be in the thick of my trial, but I know you are not wasting one ounce of it. I don’t know the final outcome but I trust you and thank you for seeing me through.
In Jesus' name, Amen
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving sister!
Love, Bethannah xoxo

Where Are We?
Check out this video on our Instagram of us getting “The Love Shack” out of prison this week 😂
We were down in San Diego for a quick visit to the beach before we headed to Phoenix to spend time with family and friends for Thanksgiving. See our Facebook page for some fun fly on the wall moments inside our rig with our kids.
News!
Last week I shared the sweet video of our 1st grandchild’s ultrasound from our son William & his wife Naomi. This week I wanted to share the excitement we had as all of our family came together this summer. We gathered in Lake Tahoe, California to meet my son Camden’s fiancé and celebrate their engagement. Watch the video here. Amazing memories were made as our family continues to grow along with our hearts. ❤️
